Payments and Security

Our store is hosted by Shopify Inc., a major e-commerce company based in Canada.  They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.

When you make payment Shopify stores your credit card data on a secure server behind a firewall. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Your purchase transaction data is stored (with AES-256 encryption) for only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.  Payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

General Security Measures

If you are using a computer or terminal in a public location, we recommend that you always log out and close the website browser when you complete an online session.
Keep your account passwords private. Remember, anybody who knows your password may access your account.
When creating a password, use at least 8 characters. A combination of letters and numbers is best. Do not use dictionary words, your name, email address, or other personal data that can be easily obtained. We also recommend that you frequently change your password. Avoid using the same password for multiple online accounts.
We will never ask you to confirm any account or credit card details via email. If you receive an email claiming to be from Northern DIY asking you to do so, please ignore it and do not respond.
